Change of Group

This week I have come to the decsion to change groups for my music video project. Instead of working on my own, I will now be working in a group with Charlotte, Megan and Joely.

The song in which we will be creating a music video for is: Republica - Ready To Go. The artist band name is Dragonfly.

Here is the song:

Why have I decided to cancel my initial idea?
I have decided to work with Charlotte, Megan & Joely simply because I felt that the four of us combined would make a good team and a good visual music video through all of our ideas and intelligence which will all be merged.

Research into Digi-Packs in Music

A digi pack in music is a particular style and design of a CD/Album packaging within an artist's material they release.

Within my music video project, I will be creating a digi pack online and then printing it off professionally within the weeks to come.

For this post, I will be looking into current digi-packs which are available on the market at current and which are available to purchase.

Below I will be now looking into digi-packs through the use of screenshots and detailed explanation:

Above is an example of a digipack which is a traditional digi-pack in which are available. As it is asware, with this digi pack the contents are: A CD, bonus tracks, images of the artist and a hand-out booklet which contains further information about the artist.

Above is the second digi pack in which I have included within this post. As you can see with this example, this digi-pack is rather simple and basic. It has an inside flap which features a bokklet of the artist's. In addtion, the back of this digi pack, has the track listing and again bonus tracks which are included within the bonus deluxe edition of the album; and finally the fron of this digi pack example has a colour and vibrant look towards it with a 3D image. The benefit of digi-packs with cool features like these, is that the digi-pack albums become limited edition, rare and a collectors item.

Here is another digi pack which is available to purchase. This particular digi-pack is a prime example of why they are rare, special and limited edition. As for example, this digi-pack album is deluxe and this is shown through the use of the colour gold. The use of th ecolour gold, is beneficial as it adds the digi-pack t have a vibrant and special feel towards it. This digi pack again is a collectors item as it is rare and very hard ot find one which is covered in shiny gold. Within this digi pack, there are two CD'S which add even further significance and importance as it conntes that there are twice as many songs as a regular album. Also, to the left of this example, there is a gold plated booklet which is thick which sets oof the connotation there is a lot of information in regards ot the artist and their lifestyle, which is what the fans love and adore.

The digi-pack above is a special and rare example of a digi-pack as marketing has been used to make this album digi-pack limited edition and special. As you can see, this example has been strructured to look like a DVD which is what fans and an audience love; simply because this design is unique and rather appealing towards the audience in which the digi-pack is aimed at.

Contents of a digi-pack:

Overall how can a Digi-Pack stand out?
  • The thickness of card-stock is essential as they make the digi-packs heavier which is why they are special and a rarity
  • Pockets - Usually with a digi-pack there are pockets to the side which contains information such as booklets within the digi-pack
  • Inside spine printing - This is essential as well, simply because most albums have a white spine but with a digi-pack if there is a different colour, it is aware that the album is limited edition and a collectors item.

  • My blog looks creative
  • Miss Whittaker likes the look of my logos
  • My analysis is detailed
  • The use of the Glogster is cool
  • I am keeping a consistent journal

  • The use of screenshots in my analysis posts are 'great'.

What improvements did Miss Whittaker suggest?

Labels:
The first improvement in which Miss Whittaker recommended was to add labels to my blog.

Have I fixed this issue?
Yes I have now got designated labels on my blog. I added labels on my blog, by simply adding the 'Labels Gadget' on to my blog. Therefore I now have nicely organised labels on my blog.

Above is a screenshot in which I have captured which provides evidence that I have included labels now in my blog.

Music Video Logo ideas

For my music video artist, I am needed to create a few typography fonts and logos in which I will need to include in my music video. Below are a few selected potential logo ideas in which I am considering using for my music video

Music Video Logo 1

What do I like about this logo?
  • I like the style of this logo. For example, it has the theme of hearts, and the title of my song is "Wild Heart". Therefore this logo design is of relevance back to my music video and the title of it
  • It is visually interesting - The use and spacing of letters make this logo look cool and creative
What do I dislike about this logo?
  • It is rather female dominant with the inclusion of hearts, and this will not be appealing to my target audience as my primary audience are both males and females. Therefore the males may receive the wrong message from this logo
  • The logo isn't exactly bold, which could arguably make the logo less significant and of not great importance as it does not stand out.

Music Video Logo 2

What do I like about this logo?
  • Again same with my previous logo design, the style of hearts is suitable back to my song name. Therefore this logo will seem more realistic if used in my final completed music video
  • The style of the logo is much more creative in comparison to my first logo design. For example, it stands out and it is appealing.
What do I dislike about this logo?
  • An issue which I have with this logo is that again the male gender of my audience may receive the impression that my music video is primarily aimed at girls, which it completely isn't.
  • The T of Aisha T is not very clear, which could possibly arise a common problem, which I do not want visible.

Music Video Logo 3

What do I like about this logo?
  • I like the fact that this logo is stylish
  • The logo has a positive vibe towards it and it feels relevant to the genre of my music video
  • This particular logo also has a retro and authentic feel towards it; therefore I feel it may look rather appealing and nice in my music video
What do I dislike about this logo?
  • It isn't very clear which may cause confusion
  • The typography looks rather confusing

Music Video Logo 4

What do I like about this logo?
  • It is bold and it stands out
  • The typography stands out which will eventually make my logo look much more effective in my music video
What do I dislike about this logo?
  • It seems a bit too simple which could potentially make it less attractive
  • The spacing is rather spacious which may cause confusion in my music video

Music Video Logo 5

What do I like about this logo?
  • It is bold and it displays a clear positive message
  • The lettering is clearly readable
  • The design is stylish
What do I dislike about this logo?
  • It seems a bit too dark
  • The final 'A' in Aisha isn't as visually creative incomparison to the other letters

Preparation for my Music Video pitch

Audience Profiling

For this post, I will be explaining my audience profile and the demographics and psychographics of what my artist will be relevant to. I have created a Powerpoint Presentation which basically underlines all of the relevant information in regards to my audience details and profiles.

Who are my target audience:
My primary target audience are teenagers aged 13-19. I will also be targeting both the male and female genders, simply because what my artist represents is suitable for both genders

The demographical information:

  • The age of my audience will be teenagers aged 13-19
  • The gender of my audience will be both male and female
  • The class of my audience will necessarily be relevant to all classes; however I feel that predominantly the higher class population may not be able to relate back to the struggle and the environment in which my artist lives within
  • The geographical location of my music video will be London city. I feel that London is an iconic city which has urban environments which are an essential part of the narrative of my location
How will I target my audience?
I will target my audience by producing and directing my music video to be interactive and engaging towards my audience. I would like to make my audience relate back to the happenings of what will happen within my music video as I feel the narrative in which I will include, will be appropriate and likely to happen to my audience.
My artists interests are also rather common in what normal everyday 13-19 year olds like, for example most teenagers enjoy.

My Powerpoint Presentation:
