Journal - Week 8

The past week has been a very hectic week in terms of our Music Video project. The week before last we started filming in a local park; and fortunately we managed to shoot some good scenes; however upon arrival back to school the following day, we as a group noticed that the footage had become blurry, which we knew was not acceptable at all.

What else have we completed over the past week?
  • Continued editing our Music Video
  • Re-shot a lot of footage
  • Continued with our Digi-Pack area of our coursework
Editing our Music Video:
We as a group have continued with the editing of our Music Video. Fortunately, the editing element of our Music Video is coming along successfully and we have finished editing and arranging the footage we already had stored and saved on Final Cut Pro. We did edit and implement the footage we shot in the park; but we all agreed that we cannot have blurry footage in our Music Video; therefore the scenes we shot, we will not implemented in our completed Music Video.

Reshooting footage:
Yesterday as a group we shot interior footage inside Joely's household; which we agreed that we will be using in our completed Music Video. Some of the scenes, I shot were of the girls entering, leaving the house, the band making tea; and some scenes in a car which worked out well. The next step with this footage is to edit it and cut certain shots that we feel will be needed to be used in our Music Video.

Continued with the Digi-Pack area of our coursework:
I personally have progressed with my Digi-Pack area of the coursework; and I have now added a front and back image on my Digi-Pack. In addition to this, I have added some cool, creative and interesting effects into some fo the images that I will be using, so my Digi-Pack is definitely coming along nicely.

What's next for our Music Video Project?
  • Edit the footage in which we shot yesterday
  • Continue with editing in general in preparation for screening in class next week
  • Continue with my Digi-Pack, and to finish as much as possible.

Experimenting with images for my Digi-Pack

During todays lesson, I have continued with my Digi-Pack area of my coursework, and what I felt I needed to do today was experiment with different effects to see what sort of images I can potentially use.

Below are a few effects which I have played around with today:

Explanation:
Above as you can see, I have experimented with several different effects; and I have posted a selection of them in which I personally like.

  1. With the first image, I have 'Cartoonized' the image; and I like this effect as it enables the image to look fantasy like.
  2. With the second image, the effect seems rather bold and strong; and due to this, the general connotation of the image is power and creativity.
  3. The third image, in which I have has a cool effect which I have added. The filter on this image, adds an interesting tone to the photo; and this is exactly why I like the image.
  4. The fourth and final image I have posted is an interesting image, simply because it is bright which sets off a positive connotation of the image.

Creating the Digi-Pack

Today I began creating my Digi-Pack design.

I have been using Photoshop to create my Digi-Pack, and I am aiming to use this particular image above as my front cover for my Digi-Pack.

What have I done with this image?
With this image, I have added the Black & White effect; and I have decided to do this, simply because it adds a positive atmosphere towards the image. In addition to using the Black & White effect, I have coloured in the girls natural eye colour and implemented it back into this edited image. To do this, I simply added a new layer of the original image in Photoshop. Following this, I then removed the layers around the eye-line area; and then the original colour of the image was inserted into to this Black & White image.

What's the next step in the process of my Digi-Pack coursework?
The next step within my Digi-Pack process is to utilise some further images in which we took and implement them around the different areas in which is needed on a Digi-Pack

Planning and Hand Drawn designs for my Digi-Pack Design

For this post, I will be uploading and describing my Digi-Pack hand drawn designs which I have carefully drawn and created as part of the production and planning area of my Media coursework. I have spent quite a lot of time on this design and I feel that it is an appropriate design; therefore, I would like to utilize this design in my completed Digi-Pack.

Here as you can see I have uploaded four different angles of my Digi-Pack hand drawn design. I in particular like this hand drawn design, simply because of it's use of effective colors and consistent creativity. The lighting in the photos is tenderly dark but this isn't a drawback for the quality of the drawn design.

Will I be using this design?
As I really like this design that I have just drawn, I feel that I will use this design mainly because it is suitable, relevant and appropriate back to what the band is about.

Digipack Photo shoot and editing

For this post, I will be uploading our photos in which we have taken over the past week, for the Digi pack area of our coursework. We took these photos in a nice, local park; and we have taken quite a lot of photos so that we can experiment and play around with different shots.

Here is a contact sheet of a selection of the photos in which I took of the girls last week. As you can see, I had a huge responsibility as I had to take care of framing, composition and all of the other necessary details in which are needed to make a photo shoot successful. Here, on this contact sheet there are group shots, individual singular shots and of scarves in which is an idea we have taken into consideration.

Here is the same set of photos as above, but here we have experimented with different effects, in order to make our photos look visually interesting and of course professional and of a high standard.

Here above, we have played about with colour on the above photos; and i must say I really do like this colour effect; as these set of photos seem industry standard; and of very good quality. The use of black and white combined with colour suggests the connotation of professionalism and that a good mood and atmosphere is being created.

Here on the above contact sheet, we have simply used the black and white effect on the photos. What I particularly like, about this effect is that although the photos are simple, they provide the connotation of tradition and of the genre in which our Music Video is.

Overall, however I am very pleased with how our coursework is coming along; and I strongly feel that we are getting along alright, and I am looking forward to sharing our final completed Digi-pack coursework on my blog.

Editing

Over the past week, as a group we have begun and continued with the editing process of our Music Video. The editing software, we have used is Final Cut Pro.

Here are some screenshot evidence of our editing process:

Overview of our editing process:

As you can see from the above screenshots in which we have taken, the editing process of our Music Video is coming along very nicely. In addition to what I have just mentioned, we have been playing around and experimenting with transitions and positive effects on Final Cut Pro; so there is a little surprise to look out for.with our Music Video.
